Last year I mentioned in this column some of the BCI currently under development, and I would like to inform you of some recent news. As many of you may already know, Elon Musk’s Neuralink company finally started its first human trial in late January of this year. It was announced that a brain chip was successfully implanted in the brain of a volunteer patient, and 3-4 weeks later, the patient was able to move a computer mouse just by thinking with his mind. However, in March, news reports in the scientific journal Nature, Yahoo News, and other outlets mentioned that scientists in the field of neurology were concerned about the long-term safety for patients, as of March 10. News reports that Elon Musk has drummed up that the Neuralink brain chip is safer than the new corona covid vaccine. Expect news about these brain chip patients to come out frequently over the next few months.
